The TFO Bluewater Series was developed by Jake Jordan specifically for the demands of offshore fly fishing. These rods combine the ability to cast large flies quickly and accurately with the strength needed to battle and land big pelagic species like tuna, tarpon, and sailfish.
At the heart of the Bluewater Series is a hybrid blank featuring a high-modulus carbon upper section and a proprietary S-glass lower section. The carbon upper ensures efficient energy transfer and fast tip recovery for accurate, high-speed casts. Meanwhile, the S-glass bottom provides exceptional lifting power and durability, capable of exerting over 10 lbs of pressure at a 90-degree fighting angle. The addition of Axiom II single filament S-glass within the blank walls helps control and smooth out blank ovalization. This results in smoother actions and a broader power range, delivering improved overall performance and fish-fighting ability.
The upgraded anodized aluminum reel seat enhances strength and saltwater resistance, offering improved comfort and security compared to previous models.
All models are equipped with highly durable, saltwater-resistant composite cork grips with EVA accents—ideal for prolonged battles. The #8–10 model features a split-grip for improved maneuverability, while the #10–12, #13–15, and 16+ models come with full-length grips that allow flexible hand placement during extended fights lasting over 30 minutes.
